Who Should Attend?
|

|
Camp Friendship is designed for children with developmental disorders, such as Asperger's or PDD, who have poor or underdeveloped social skills. Camp activities enhance social skills, peer relationships, self-esteem, self-confidence, and assertiveness for your child. We plan structured and fun activities, games, and instruction in a safe outdoor environment.
|
Upper Mountain Camp is a program designed for children who have difficulty making friends. These children may be shy or anxious, have learning or attention problems, or have behavioral and/or emotional difficulties. There is no diagnosis required to addend. Camp activities utilize adventure-based programs to support and challenge the child with fun and exciting activities in a safe and non-threatening environment.
Both programs can help children who do not have adequately
developed social skills. These children often have difficulty making or
keeping friends and joining in with group activities (i.e. sports,
scouts, and religious groups). They may also tend to withdraw into
isolated activities such as playing video games or Lego's, watching
television, or working on the computer. Additionally, they are
oftentimes victims of teasing and social ostracizing. |
|
Why Attend?
|
|
Traditional
summer camp programs often do not meet the needs of children with
social skill deficits. This often leaves the child with an experience
of failure. Camp Friendship summer program provides children with a
positive experience, while learning skills to become more socially
competent and successful year-round.
|
|
Camp
Friendship is an outgrowth of 10 years of providing social skills
groups in our Doylestown office. These weekly groups have been highly
recommended by area pediatricians and school personnel and well
received by both parents and the hundreds of children who have attended
them.
|

|
In recognizing
the specific requirements of these children, we have developed a summer
program to meet their needs. Supervised by a professional staff in a
safe and supportive environment, our highly structured program utilizes
fun and exciting, non-competitive recreational activities. |
