Maybe your child is experiencing . . .

. . . on-going underachievement with poor grades,or social problems

such as few friends?

. . . sadness, tearfulness, low self-esteem, insecurity or poor self-image?

. . . behavior problems such as impulsivity, disruptive, defiant,

or aggressive behaviors?

. . . excessive worry or fear, somatic symptoms with out physical cause

such as frequent complaints of tummy or head aches, chronic stress,

or irritability or avoidance of situations?

. . . poor concentration, disorganization, or difficulty following through

or getting things done on time?

. . . self-isolating behaviors such as wanting to be or play alone, excessive use of computer or video games, unwillingness to try new things?
If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, we have many different opportunities for your child to improve in these areas.  We offer  child and adolescent therapy groups, individual and family counseling as well as psychological testing and evaluation.
Child and Adolescent Groups
Social Skills Groups
Social skills groups for children teach social and emotional skill development, cooperation and improve self-esteem.  Fun interactive activities provide an opportunity for children to practice their newly acquired skills and gain confidence in interacting with others.
Anxiety and Stress Management
The stress management program for children is a relaxing and enjoyable group experience which utilizes cognitive behavioral approaches, Yoga, Tai Chi and other Eastern Disciplines to help children effectively manage and reduce the effects of stress and anxiety.
Adolescent Anger Management

Adolescents will learn how to gain control of their anger by identifying what triggers their powerful emotions and learn anger management techniques.  Group members will also learn productive and acceptable ways to express their feelings.

Play Therapy
Play therapy gives children the opportunity to work through problems using their natural mode of communication and expression -- play. Even when they may not have the ability to articulate verbally, the process helps the child to express underlying feelings and issues at an emotional level and can assist with diagnoses and treatment of many childhood problems. Materials and techniques include clay, paint, sand tray, games, and storytelling.

Psychoeducational Testing and Evaluation

Your child can benefit from an educational evaluation

if he or she is showing signs of:

  • Homework battles
  • Learning difficulties or disabilities
  • Reading, writing or math problems
  • School boredom or dislike
  • School frustration or resistance
  • Social or emotional problems
  • Somatic symptoms
  • Underachievement
