Why Camp* Friendship?

Traditional summer camp programs often do not meet the needs of children with social skill deficits. This often leaves the child with an experience of failure. The Camp * Friendship summer program provides children with a positive experience, while learning skills to become more socially competent and successful year-round.

Camp * Friendship is an outgrowth of 10 years of providing social skills groups in our Doylestown office. These weekly groups have been highly recommended by area pediatricians and school personnel and well received by both parents and the hundreds of children who have attended them.

Children Who May Benefit from Camp* Friendship

Camp * Friendship is a unique therapuetic program geared toward the child who has difficulty making and keeping friends.  Often these children may be shy or socially awkward, anxious, withdrawn or depressed.  Some have learning (LD), attentional or impulsive difficulties (ADHD) or Asperger's (AS).  Other children have behavioral or emotional difficulties.  Most children come with inadequate or under-developed social skills.  Often, previous social experiences have been problematic and unsatisfactory.

While some children may or have been in treatment for various issues, no diagnosis is necessary to attend.

We carefully screen all applicants.  A child who is aggressive or disruptive and unable to participate in group activities may not benefit fully from the program.
